Personal Essay

For my English 1010 class, I have to write a personal essay. Just something simple about myself, and the life lessons I've learned.

I struggle with knowing how much I should share. I don't know where to start. Well, I do, but I don't know how to start. I don't really know what I should share, because I hate being looked at differently when people find out about mom. They usually don't say anything, but the look in their eyes says it all. It's a look of pity, or perhaps it's a look of helplessness. I'm not really sure. I know they don't know what to say, which is understandable. I've heard the words "I'm Sorry" about a thousand times, and I know people are sorry. I know they feel sorry for me, and that's what I have a hard time with.  I don't want to be pitied, I just want people to understand.

I lead a different life than most people my age. That's okay with me. I'm used to it. I schedule my time around visits with mom, because no matter what, she's my priority. I really hate missing a day of seeing her, because her condition is so unpredictable that I don't know what may change from day to day. Sometimes it's hard, missing out on things, or choosing between them. I usually pick seeing mom. She deserves at least that from me.

I picked seventeen different titles for my personal essay. One for each year I've lived. I wrote a paragraph about each, and I'm not really sure which one I want to pick. I thought about picking a couple and writing an essay for each, and then choosing which I like better, but I know they'll just end up at the same place, about the same thing. It doesn't really matter how I start it, because I know the story will morph into my story, and become the same words, just arranged in a different order. I suppose that's what writing is about.

I'll keep you posted and let you know when I figure out which essay I'm going to write. This should be interesting.

P.S. Thanks for letting me brain dump. It cleared my head so now I can do my homework! And I have a lot of homework.

Nerdy

I feel totally nerdy for posting this blog, but I just can't help myself.

My very first college textbook came today. :) I squealed.

I opened it and felt the fresh, bright white paper; I breathed in the scent of the new book.

I immediately went to the Table of Contents and found an article of my interest. I read every word.

I love the subject, I love the class, and now I love the book.

Creative Writing is my true love. <3

English 1010... I love you.

I am absolutely loving my English 1010 class through USU! We haven't done a whole lot yet, but I feel like it's helping me grow and evolve as a writer.

We do these things called fastwrites, and it's alright if you let your mind wander. It's okay if you start on one subject and work your way into another. I love it. So much.

I can't even explain what writing does for me. It just releases all my frustrations and relaxes me completely. I can't go a day without writing. I have to do it.

My blog may not always show it, but that's why this is my blog. I vent here, I brain dump here. Occasionally I may share some of my better writing, but a lot of it I like to keep private. Someday I'll share it, but a lot of times I think it's all in the timing. I have to refine it and present it as what I see as perfect. What I feel is the right time and stage to share my passion and work.

College Student

I'm kind of getting a taste of what it's going to be like to be a college student. It was really weird to be at home by noon today. But I liked it. It was nice to be able to come home, take a three hour nap and still have time to wake up, make dinner, and do my homework.

What?

I had plenty of time. That was nice. I'm looking forward to Friday, too. :)

Just Another Manic Monday...

Monday, oh Monday. I hate you.

Despite my extreme disliking for Mondays, I was determined to make this a good one. It turned out to be... Okay. Not good, not great, but okay. I'll take okay, because okay isn't bad, and okay isn't crappy. It was... okay.

One positive thing is that I got my schedule fixed, so now I have two parent release hours on A days. That means that I'm outta there and back at home by noon. Yep, noon. Love A days!

One Week!

School starts one week from today. I'm so.dang.excited. I seriously can't even wait. I went and talked to my counselor today about my schedule for this year. She's impressed. I'm taking 17 credit hours of college this year through the Concurrent Enrollment program. My schedule is as follows:

A Day:

1. I can't remember, but I know it's something important!
2. English 1010.
3. Office Aide.
4. Parent Release. Yep, that means I get out at 1:00! Yes!

B Day:

5. I can't remember this one either. I'll find out on Monday!
6. English 1010. (It's taught everyday)
7. Seminary!
8. Computer Tech II.

I'm pretty excited for this year if you couldn't already tell. I'll almost be a Sophomore in college when I start next fall. Call me an overachiever if you want, I'm just saving money.

Now, I just need to get a 24 on my ACT so I can earn a Merit Scholarship. I'm good on English and Reading, but I could use a little help when it comes to Math and Science. Anyone want to tutor me?

Rock Star

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am finally an official Rock Star. According to cappex.com that is. I've been using cappex for about two years now to aid me in my college search, and I finally reached Rock Star status. To celebrate my acheivement, they sent me an official Cappex cap. Accomplishment? I think yes. :)

So, here I am, rocking my cappex cap. I feel like a rock star.
