Dead.

I thought my phone was alive, but today it started fritzing out. The screen would get really dark and unresponsive, and the bottom buttons stopped working altogether. Crap.

So Dad, Ashley and I took a little trip to our lovely AT&T store to check out the upgrade options. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until my birthday, while Dad and Ashley are both eligible right now. My dear sister gave up her upgrade for me to get a new phone. Thank you, Ash!

I chose the Samsung Solstice II, which is pretty similar to my Sunburst, except it's newer and has a few more of the features I want.

In all honestly, I really miss my Sunburst. It was such a good phone for me, and it wouldn't have had any problems had I not dropped it in a storm drain.

I like my new phone and the things it does, and I'm sure with time I'll love it, but for now, I'm mourning the loss of my sunburst that I brutally murdered. :( Poor phone.

Oh, and some people keep telling me that it's the same. *wink* *wink* Violet. So, to prove that they are not the same, here is a picture.

NOT the same. Just similar.

Alive... Maybe?

So, I think my phone is alive... It seems to be working alright, the screen just looks weird now. I'm happy to have it working, that's for sure. I was going through some serious withdrawls yesterday. So, for now, I'm connected to the world. :)

Hallelujah.

Curse You, Storm Drain!

Today was really not my day.

So, I had a little accident with my phone this morning. I can't even believe that it happened how it did, because the chances of that are... Well, you know how clumsy I am.
I dropped my phone, and it fell in a storm drain...I can't believe that it actually did. It barely fit through the holes, but it managed to slip it's way in. It teetered for a minute, but fell in before I could catch it. Paula and I managed to life the grate off, but the hole was too deep (about four feet) to reach my phone. I almost jumped in after it, but I wasn't sure how I would get out, and I didn't want them to have to call paramedics and stuff over a stupid phone. There was mud and water in there, and my phone sat there for about 20 minutes before maintainence came and helped me get it out. Once we recovered it, I removed the battery and dried it out, but now it won't turn on. I've looked pretty much everywhere online to see if I can save it, but it looks like it's ruined. Fortunately, I have my stuff backed up on my SD and SIM cards, but now I'm out of a phone and don't know when I'll be able to get another one. So, readers, good luck getting a hold of me! I've still got my email. :)

*sigh* I'm going to have a hard time with this.

Ooh... Ahh...

So, I love my current phone, the Samsung Sunburst.
Current Phone
It has served me well since I got it last November, I have loved it since I first started to use it. Up until recently, it has done absolutely everything I need. However, I as a user, have developed the need for something better and more powerful. It has a music player, but no 3.5 mm audio jack. That didn't use to bother me until my MP3 player broke and I have used my phone exclusively for listening to music. I have to have an adapter, and that just isn't working for me.

So, I can't wait until I can upgrade. Problem is, I can't upgrade for another 11 months! I'm not exactly happy about that... But anyways, the phone I want is the HTC Freestyle. :) It's got pretty much EVERYTHING I want out of a phone. It would cost me about $319.00 to buy it without contract. So, I guess I'll be waiting until my birthday! I can upgrade on my 18th birthday. :) Exactly 11 months from today! I can do it!

Dear Mr. ATT Guy

Dear Mr. ATT Guy,

Thanks for saving my life yesterday.

Sincerely,

Holly Lynn

______________________________________________

Now, to understand this short and simple letter, I must explain. So, last "billing cycle" I used a little bit of data by accident on my phone. So, I decided, since I already used just a little, I'll just use what I have because I already payed the $2. So I used it. And I used it a little more.

Time went by, and the monthly bill popped up in Dad's email. He scrolled down to the total amount, fully expecting the price of our normal monthly bill plus two dollars. What he found was much different. The price was our normal monthly bill, plus twenty.eight.DOLLARS!

I, fortunately was not awake when he opened said bill. Quite possibly if I had been, I would not be blogging today.

Being completely unaware of how much 1MB (megabyte for all you non-techies, don't worry, you don't have to know that, I'm just a geek!) of data is, I used............. 14 megabytes. At two dollars per megabyte, I racked up twenty eight dollars in charges.

HOW COME NO ONE TELLS YOU HOW MUCH A MEGABYTE IS?!?

Anyways, to resolve this issue in the future, we added the data plan to my line. It's ten dollars a month for UNLIMITED DATA! Can someone please tell me how this makes sense?

After doing so, the very nice gentelman from ATT whose name I can't remember gave us a courtesy credit for my data use last billing cycle. Thank you, Sir! You very well may have saved my life. :)
(Don't worry, Dad wouldn't have actually killed me.)
